A Series of Unfortunate Events - Part I.

"...yesterday was amazing, today was stupid lame ass." - Daniel Young, summing up my life story.

What a rubbish day was had by me today. We'll start from the top (of the bottom)...

6:45am. I have training in fifteen minutes and hey! Guess what? I'm still in bed. However, I have had much practice in getting ready in ten minutes and have found it to be most invigorating... Nothing like forcing your brain into action as soon as you waken. Honestly... It's like a scene from a movie -

INT. BOB's BEDROOM - MORNING - 6:45AM

Darkness. BOB'S eyes open gradually, we see what he sees - a few fuzzy, red numbers - 6:45AM. As harshly as his alarm woke him up, Bob pulls off his blankets and rolls off his bed - landing squarely on his arse. BOB is awake now.

BOB
Shit!

INT. BOB'S BATHROOM - MORNING - 6:46AM
BOB glimpses into the mirror, his hair is a complete mess, there is no way he is going to make it to training in ten minutes. A faint rumbling can be heard from the laundry basket- BOB'S phone. He fumbles to grab it -

BOB
He-hello?

JOHN (V.O)
Bob. Crap. I'm so sorry, my alarm didn't go off... Well actually, I probably didn't set it but -

BOB
(interrupting)
- yeah OK! Just be at mine asap. We have ten... eight minutes until training. Bye.

EXT. BOB's DRIVEWAY - MORNING - 6:55AM
BOB cusses profusely under his breath while the morning fog completely surrounds him. He walks, or rather, strides emotionally, struggling with his car keys. MARK, BOB'S younger brother meanders to the car. JOHN'S MUM's car pulls into the driveway.

BOB
(to JOHN)
Hurry up! We're leaving. Now.

MARK
Oh wait! Forgot my gear bag!

MARK rushes back inside while BOB and JOHN hop into the car.

JOHN
What the freak. We are never late. I swear.

BOB
I know. That's what disturbs me.
(he turns starts the ignition)
Frick. Screw Mark, We're leaving without him.

MARK scurries down the driveway. BOB has driven just down to the end of the driveway...

He slows down for MARK who gasses it to the car, gear bag clanging behind...

MARK Opens the back seat door...

BOB'S foot slips off the brake...

The car wheels move about ten centimetres...

MARK yelps. BOB has run over MARK'S foot.

Oh no wait. That last part was really real. And you know what. My running over Mark's... uh Alisa's foot... Was probably not a big deal. But heck, it added to the stress of the morning.

I would love to disclose information of what went down at Deputy Meeting #4 but most of it was debate that seemed, really, to go no where.

Please be aware that the deputy team is working very hard to make your school feel like it's the place it's advertised to be - the 'best'. Sure school is a place of learning and you should be 'grateful' for what you have... but wouldn't you be more inclined to come everyday, punctual and for the whole day... if we had what those of the golden age used to have... the common room, the car parks, the lunchtime leaving, the choice to wear whatever the heck shorts you wanted... Then you wouldn't be one of those people who "have made individual decisions to bum around" And yes, we understand that it is physically impossible to give us some of these things. If you hadn't realised, the old common room was condemned when we were third formers and the lack of space for even staff to park means student car parks are out of the question... So many things to consider, so many things to defend and justify.* We simply know you have our backs right? Then please don't dick around while we try and work out this stuff.

*edit: We're not stupid. We aren't chasing for those particular things and hoping to get things back to the old days. Maybe I didn't write it effectively. We're trying to get a way to get something. Anything. That could raise our morale a teensy bit. Too much to ask?

*sigh*

Slight rant. But hey, terrible day, remember?

I was also told today that the physio would be moving back into to the sports kitchen. Thank you Mr. Healey for that most informed decision. As if I wasn't running on empty in the first place.

I have given this blog an option to (heaven forbid) become a sequel by adding the 'Part I'. Pessimistic. I know. I apologise. I am really not a person to bad mouth Avondale. I love our school - especially the people in it. I am just reaching a point of disillusionment. No matter what I do right; things always go wrong. Mick Jagger always said...

You can't always get what you want.

But it you try sometimes - you get what you need.

II. So I've Been Thinking...

So I've been thinking. The intensity of how I feel right now is that of this photo above (courtesy of Jana Nee, thanks lovely sister).

I know what you're thinking. "Oh wow, that is some intense shee..." You are so right at this point in time!

Today we had 7th form photos and as usual I spent the whole day fussing while everyone else was chillax. Fine. So I want to look good in this - this - prime time of my life! What's the big deal? Everything is the big deal! That's the point! No, no, you're right. Chillax. 'cause that's what we are right? With five months left of our schooling we're... chillax.

This sucks. I can't get to the friggin' holidays without first handing in two internals, two essays and performing Shakespeare. Damn it! Not that I don't want to... Because I will. It's just a terrible taunting feeling.

I realise now that this blog is slightly diminishing into a bitch session so will now update you with the school worthy 'news'.

I find it intriguing that school has become somewhat optional. I don't endorse or condone this but seriously, I'm beginning to miss everyone. Everyday I find myself asking the question "Oh where is so and so?" The answer is no longer "Oh so and so is sick..." The answer is "Oh? So and so isn't coming in until lunchtime." Okay sweet then. Until then. I'll miss you so and so.

Please come to school so and so. I know it's a terrible cliche but our year, especially our year, is one really big awesome family. We know each other, we're sisters, brothers, drunk uncles... and I'll miss that when we leave for life at the end of the year. School is rubbish sometimes but if you really don't care about your grades you can slug it out and simply pass without the fancy schmancy excellences. You don't what you've got until it's gone.

Otherwise. Have a great time at - life. Miss you already.

Mid Term Madness Part II

Alright, so I'm cheating slightly. It isn't mid term - it's three quarters - which, even so, is still absolute madness.

Week nine out of eleven is actually not too bad. Seeing as I should be doing my history assignment, I'll briefly touch up on what the hell has just gone down in the past term - besides all the 'important' things: talent quest, history trip, show camp, ball... WOW. Can you believe we sorted all that out?

  • Need to get Glee together to sing at least one song - one song glory, guys.
  • Still working on the Sports Council. Got milk Jamieson?
  • Show rehearsals are going smoothly - well... OK, they aren't but they sooo will. Come on team!
  • Speaking of which I got a small speaking role. Sure it's only four lines but four is better than... Well, none really... Yus!
  • Haven't been to a saxophone lesson in I'd say six weeks. SO crazy. I need to pick up Tony Sax VI up again!
  • Have to get Prefects vs. Teachers Cranium on the go. Preferably before the term is out.
  • We're one and a half weeks out until we have to perform the semi lesbian play Revenge of the Amazons . Year 13 Drama, make sure you come watch that then guys...
  • I am going to the Cook Islands in the July holidays. Do I even deserve it? Potentially. Do I want to go? Potentially, Should I go? Potentially. Am I too busy to go? Definately!
I've made it this far. Gotta keep the up pace. Good luck to y'all. However, on a lighter note - a photo. A sunny day photo. Gonna miss them over the winter.

Ball of a Time - Part III.

The finale of the 'Ball of the Time' trilogy.

Here we finally are. Everyone nursing themselves back into reasonable condition, uploading photos plagued by red eye and generally reiterating the degree of sexiness of everyone. However, there's more to the ball than just the ball... There is the before and of course the after.

Before
Set my alarm for 8am ready for a fun time with the amazing ball committee and deans. Of course, like everyone else, I wasn't actually ready for the ball. It's like putting on a play. You know your lines, you're blocked and what not... It's just pulling it off overall.

I went over to Geoff's Emporium on Dominion Road in hope they had some peacock feathers for my last minute hair slash Dan's feather in pocket. Thank goodness random Asian shop had them - that and 60 pencils for cheap!

I am also pleased to say I am quite familiar with the Mt. Eden area now. I love signs! I realised that Eden Park was just down the road perfect! Headed into gate five at around 10:30am to find an amazing arch and fairy lights all set up. Very beautiful.

I put out about ten bowls and filled them with water before I had to gap at 11:30am to get my very last minute stuffs at St. Lukes. Necklace, body butter, chicken cordon bleu sub... Y'know, the staples... Can you believe I did all of this and got home for my make-up by 12:10pm?

I was all ready by 2pm which, in hindsight was a good time to finish actually... Gave me one hour to do a bit of facebooking, get into my dress and pack for the night... Arrived at Dan's at 4pm and headed to Nicola's for some nice photos at 5pm.

Finally, the end of beginning (that's right... the other way around!) - Sarah's Pre-Ball. I am so glad I arrived in time to see that nifty, amazing ride... Well done! Great company, great atmosphere, great chicken fingers...

Ball
I am amazed and know not what to say. Everyone was stunning. Like I say, I wish we could have broken the regent crowns into 520 pieces for everyone...

Photo line was very, very busy this year. I have to say, there wasn't even a break during the 'cool down' times e.g. during dinner and during mean as dance times. Very pleased to take photos with: thaa gurls (eh, I'll never say that again...),Gino!, my head brothers and sisters, my favouritestestest sixth formers and my so called date Dan (jokes... love!). Of course, roaming photographer was a really nice touch this year.

Ball of a Time - Part II.

Oh I love sequels! Well, not really, but this one I do. The ball is in t-minus... I don't even want to know how long. By all means - do not remind me.

This post is an update on what has been achieved in the past 48 hours. Hell. So much. On Wednesday morning me and (today, Birthday girl) Leaper embarked to Eden Park to have the first look around. I mean, I had seen it before but Leaper hadn't so it was worth going to - at least to meet Jenna - our lovely assistant for the ball experience.

Tables were set up, fairy lights ready to play... Just chairs and colour coordinated napkins and our decorations to be put up.

Expect a fantastic dinner with a buffet of super awesome yumminess. I had a sneak peak at Jenna's menu and saw 'Seafood Casserole'; now I know people hate seafood but oh my gosh. Seafood just screams luxury! You must admit... It does.

DJ and band have been liaised and scheduled.

Voting papers for King, Queen, Prince and Princess are ready. Someone just remind me to get some pencils or pens...

Photographer will be roaming and on stand by at the usual spot.

Oh yes be certain, I do not jest. This is going to be one super ball. I shall see you there!

Show Offs and Ons.

Pure excitement. Several times now I have declared my undying love for this year's show family and folks, guys, dolls... this year is gonna be amazing.

Day, or rather, evening one. - Wednesday
The above photo represents every possible feeling of excitement and enjoyment in the world. Thank you for that Miss Harris and Miss Woolley. I was amazed at the speed and dexterity Miss. Woolley had in securing the best cabin of Peter Snell Youth Village - Partay Central. Although this cabin suffers from dampness in the afternoon, it has a most excellent side effect of crankin' times.

Straight into rehearsal *squeee*. As soon as we entered the hall the smell of plastic chair heaven encroached upon us. Ah bliss! I will miss the segregation - I mean, seperation - I mean... sorting of the vocal ranges. Sops, altos, tenors, basses... love you all despite how far away we tend to move from the sops... Ha! Took us a solid half hour to get the papers - thanks Nellie. First song we sang. The 'Some Enchanted Evening' of our show - 'Guys and Dolls'. This song is usually sung by Nicely and Benny but the entire cast is singing it due to lack of chorus-ness. It was... interesting. It will be amazing.

Dinner was the classic nacho, wedges mix. Why blog that? Really need to remember these details peeps. Food is life. *pause* what? It is!

Day Two, the actual day time of day. - Thursday
Good thing I took a gazillion photos because my memory is already beginning to fail. Woke up early, specifically to enjoy an early morning hot chocolate. Bless! Anyway, where were we? Ah! Ninja games. The rival to the Islander boys' fighting game. Comparison:

Ninja's
vs.

Islanders

Yes, Unknown what this behavior has to do with show but fun nonetheless.

Thursday was the day I had my lacrosse game. Dale vs. Westlake Girls. We won 11 -0 which was nice but I had to miss out a solid rehearsing of the song 'Bushel and a Peck', 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat' and I missed out on hearing the boys' 'Fugue for the Tinhorns'. Good thing Guys and Dolls is my favourite musical and I at least know the rhythm of the songs. Very nice.

Thursday Night
Dinner was a vege and chicken curry and ice cream and jelly for desert. Overall, good combo.

After this most chicken-y meal, Mrs. Weeks joined us! YAY! Love! Incomprehensible! We sang/serenaded her the songs we had learnt and she began devising 'Guys and Dolls' - ish. Last year we stayed up until 10pm, I swear, working on 'Wash that Man..." this year, we didn't stay up... Aw...

Day and Night Three. - Friday (the last full day!)
Must have had about four cups of hot choc by now. That stuff is the shizz. Gotta know where to get the good cups too by the way. Jess knows:

The day, I recall was a-pretty-mazing. We had our first dance warm-up led by Mrs. Weeks, leaps, bounds and superman dive type moves were enjoyed by all. Then straight into the choreography of 'Guys and Dolls'. It would tell you what we've done but nah... Imma keep it on the DL. It'll be crazy cool is all I'm saying.

By the afternoon, we had reached the stage of separating the sexes. The girls got to practice with good ol' Uncle Bell *bless* while the boys spent time with the Dev. Again, would tell you our secrets but it would be a botz call. However, we did get 'Follow the Fold' and 'Take Back Your Mink' added to our repertoire of rehearsal.

Dinner was braised sausages, potatoes and veges or else known as... SAUSSIE WASSIES!!! Desert was... brace yourself... SELF SAUCING CARAMEL PUDDING. With copious amounts of cream. They always save the best for last.

Tonight we also performed the Nelson, Dev, Weeks, Bell tribute song which is available on facebook to all friends of Dan Liu. *plug*

One of the best things about the last night of show camp is that nobody cares! I love that we had good ol' DMCs with Nellie and Uncle Bell. Unkie Bell wants to sing but is too much of a genius at the piano; and see back in Nellie's day, kids were the same. Y'know, they still danced the same way *Sexy Bitch plays in the background*. Missed the deck conga line but then again, chillin' and chattin' was really nice this year.

Day Four. - goodbye!
FAT CRY! Woke up in my own bed this time (thanks Georgia). Had a shower and popped over to the last breakfast. My combo of porridge with fruit and three pieces of marmite and butter toast never fails. I'm gonna miss it - it never tastes as good when you're eating it alone at home...

We had the usual schedule - physical warm-up, without Mrs. Weeks, followed by a full revision of all songs. Loving Mr. Gino Pimentel as my super, super dance partner. He is brave for lifting me times like... ten throughout our practices.

Since we didn't have dinner I'm gonna have to mention the famous soup and roll combo on the last day of every show camp. I am really going to miss eating every scrap of my food (sorry Nugget!). I'll miss the cookies and fruit that show up every few hours, the cake and muffins... Oh food! I love you!

This is my second year of show and although this part's over, the best part is yet to begin. See you at either rehearsal or on opening night my friend.
